Dear Colleagues,

The United Board is pleased to announce that applications are now being accepted for the 201 MPI Annual Peacebuilding Training that will run from May 7 to 25, 2018 in Davao City, Philippines.

Committed to whole person education, the United Board supports faculty development for enhanced teaching, learning, and research. The United Board provides scholarships for faculty members to participate in this training, and to encourage the integration of peace education into the curriculum or extracurricular activities of higher education institutions.

The training is administered by the Mindanao Peacebuilding Institute Foundation. MPI was established in 2000, as a resource for peacebuilders of diverse cultures: providing skills, conducting research and building solidarity within the Asia-Pacific Region.

Successful applicants will be entitled to a scholarship which will include: tuition, room and board (simple dormitory style accommodation and full meals) for three weeks, as well as round-trip economy airfare (for international participants only). United Board staff will contact successful candidates regarding flight arrangement; and reimbursement of flight will be made upon submitting the final report, due within one month after completion of the program. Please note that visa, ground transportation, and insurance are not covered and participants shall arrange appropriate travel medical insurance.

More details of the MPI Annual Peacebuilding Training can be found at: https://mpiasia.net/

Successful candidates shall:

  • be under 40 years old by the time of application
  • be currently employed at one of the United Board network institutions
  • have adequate English proficiency
  • be in good health and physically fit (especially for those  enrolling in field-based courses)
  • be committed to the entire three weeks’ training
  • have initiated peacebuilding activities on campus or taught courses related to peace education; preferences will be given to those who have led in a United Board supported project in “peacebuilding, peace education, or interreligious dialogue/understanding”.

 A complete application shall include:

  •  Application Form
  • Endorsement letter from the head of institution*
  • Resume

*Due to the limited space, each institution is invited to nominate up to two candidates only.

All applications and requests for further information should be sent to the United Board at UBScholars@unitedboard.org by February 15, 2018. United Board will contact shortlisted candidates by late February 2018.
